Yeah, you read the title right.
Tableau is SO good, they offer some of their products to University students for free.
- A one-year individual license to Tableau’s software which normally costs 105 AUD per month? Students get that for free.
- Access to Tableau’s e-learning platform which normally costs at least 7 AUD per month? Students ALSO get that for free.
Obviously this doesn’t hide the fact that students pay a couple of ten thousand for their education, BUT the point is when it comes to learning the Tableau software, nothing beats what the OG (i.e. Tableau) offers to University students around the world.
But what are all the things they offer? Read on to catch them all.
1. FREE one-year licenses to Tableau Desktop and Tableau Prep Builder
While you are student, you can get a free one-year license to Tableau Desktop and Tableau Prep Builder, which are renewable while you are still a student.
Now what is Tableau Desktop and Tableau Prep Builder?
Tableau Desktop is a Desktop-installed version of Tableau, which is used for transforming data into interactive visualisations, such as graphs, charts and dashboards.
Tableau Prep Builder is another Tableau product, and it is specifically designed to help combine, shape, and clean data for analysis. Much like Tableau Desktop (and Alteryx), it’s drag-and-drop.
See the Tableau for Students page to get your license for Tableau Desktop and Tableau Prep Builder.
2. FREE access to Tableau’s eLearning suite
Tableau’s eLearning suite is free for both students and instructors.
When students get approval for a student license (i.e. for Tableau Desktop and Tableau Prep Builder) they also receive a license key to access the eLearning suite.
See the confirmation email that students receive after verifying their enrolment:
The Tableau eLearning suite allows students to gain access to Tableau Learning Paths and Courses. These learning paths and courses help students learn Tableau content while working towards Role Badges or Tableau’s official certification exams (which students can get a discount for – more on this later).
The lessons on Tableau’s eLearning platform are interactive, with many hands-on activities and frequent quizzes that test your understanding.
Go to the Tableau eLearning login portal here.
3. 20% off the Tableau Desktop Specialist Exam
The Tableau Desktop Specialist Exam, which normally costs 100 USD, is only 80 USD for students to take.
The Tableau Desktop Specialist certification recognises the user’s basic Tableau skills and product knowledge, and is one of the five official Tableau certifications.
The other four certifications are shown below (for context):
See how to get the discount here.
Now, for the students out there reading this post, given these generous deals provided by Tableau, will you make the most out of them during your University experience?
If yes… what are you waiting for?
